Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of sitelume (the “Service”). By accessing the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. This is a simple beta-stage Terms document; it will be revised before any paid features launch.

1. Permitted use

You may use the Service to look up environmental and hazard information about Bay Area properties for personal, informational purposes. You agree not to:

  • scrape, mass-download, or systematically extract data from the Service;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service;
  • resell, redistribute, or relabel the data shown on the Service;
  • use the Service in any manner that violates applicable law.

2. No professional advice

The Service is not a Natural Hazard Disclosure (NHD) report and does not provide real-estate, insurance, legal, engineering, or financial advice. See the Disclaimer for the full statement on data limitations.

3. Third-party data

The Service displays data sourced from federal, state, and local public agencies and from open-data providers. Each upstream source retains all rights to its data and may impose its own terms.

4. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of sitelume shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Service or any data displayed on it.

6. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may revise these Terms; revisions take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions.

8. Contact

Questions about these Terms or the Service can be sent to the project operator listed in the site repository.
